Idli / iddly, is a steamed cake made from rice and black lentils, delicacy of south India. Idlis are made in a specialized mold and eaten with chutney or vegetable stew for breakfast .
These small treats are good to make the diet a bit healthier . Idli are made from cooked white rice, black lentils and a pinch of salt. The prepared batter is kept for fermentation for 8 or hours. No oil is required, as the steaming process prevents the batter from sticking to the mold.
