These steamed jackfruit dumplings is a commonly made snack, at most homes in Kerala during the Jackfruit season ( April – May). These dumplings are made out of jackfruit puree, jaggery, coconut and rice flour . The mixture is wrapped with Indian Bay leaves (Cinnamomum tamala) , which imparts a distinct flavour to the dumplings. Adding crushed bay leaves to the dough, adds a cinnamon flavour into the appam.
